Chef Patron Daniel Smith wins big at The Craft Guild of Chef Awards
Daniel scooped the prestigious national Restaurant Chef Award at The Craft Guild of Chefs - established in 1965 The Restaurant Chef award recognises an outstanding contribution to quality and innovation, taking into account not only customer endorsements and other accolades earned but also a successful yearâ€™s trading. The category was judged by a panel of highly respected ambassadors from the industry who were looking for those qualities that made the winner stand out; who have made a real contribution to both their industry and also the wider community. This included training and mentoring others, recognition from food guides and the media as well as championing their cause for provenance/local/sustainable dishes. All of which are at the heart of Danielâ€™s growing Norfolk businesses.
â€śI am honoured and delighted to have won this top national award. Many of the UKâ€™s leading chefs were in the frame and to have made it to the final three and then be announced the winner on the night was overwhelming. I am very proud of my Norfolk heritage and I dedicate this award to my incredible family who have supported me throughout my career. I hope it inspires the young people I have working with me in my kitchens that hard work and dedication pays offâ€ť.
Daniel will attend a lunch for winners on Monday 26th June at The Ivy Restaurant, London which will also be attended by award sponsors and senior members of the Craft Guild of Chefs. Another opportunity to fly the flag for Norfolk.
