A Norfolk Staycation

With so many of us opting for a Staycation this summer, there’s surely no better place than Norfolk.  Here’s a taster of what’s on our doorstep with both the stunning coastline and tranquil Broads.  

If you want to feel the sand under your feet and dabble your toes in the sea - nearby are the beaches of Sea Palling and Waxham where the coastline is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  

Sea Palling is a lovely spot - it’s a Blue Flag beach - RNLI Lifeguards operate on the wide, sandy beach daily between 10am and 6pm from May to September. 

Waxham Beach is a bit of a ‘hidden gem’ - just waiting to be discovered.  There’s no official car park but it’s worth a walk from the road through the dunes and this glorious sandy beach, stretching for miles, is often virtually deserted.  Look out for the grey seals bobbing their heads up in the waves to keep an eye on you.

The Broads National Park boasts more than 100 miles of waterways with beautiful countryside and pretty villages.  Many think they’re a natural phenomenon but they were actually created by peat digging in the 12th Century.  Now, they’re a haven for wildlife and waiting to be explored whether it’s on foot, bike, car or hire boat - bring your binoculars!
